Terror Vault
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is this a walk-through haunted house?
A. Yes and No. This is a theatrical, immersive haunted experience—not just a traditional walkthrough. It features a full storyline, live actors, 4D effects, and haunted maze elements. It’s part horror show, part haunt. Expect the unexpected!
Q. What do you mean by immersive?
A. You won’t just watch the story—you’ll be part of it. This is a fully interactive horror experience where the fourth wall isn’t just broken, it’s shattered.
No cell phones and no talking unless prompted by an actor. Disruptive behavior will get you removed without a refund.
Screaming, however? Allowed and inevitable.
Q. What does the Red Glow Necklace include?
A. For $5, the Red Glow Necklace signals that you’re open to more intense interaction. This includes:
- Being touched or grabbed (non-sexually)
- Isolation from your group
- Being fed something
- Mild electrocution or restraint
- Stronger engagement from actors
- Being drawn or written on
If you want to opt out at any time, simply remove and drop the necklace. You’ll still continue with the show, just at a standard interaction level.
Q. How long is the experience? How many people in a group?
A. The experience is around 1 hour long. Groups are limited to 12 guests. If you prefer a private experience, gather 12 people total and let us know when you arrive—we’ll keep your group together.
Q. Can my friends and I go through as a private group?
A. Yes! Purchase all 12 tickets for a single time slot, and your group will go through privately—even if you have fewer than 12 people. Just let us know at the box office when you arrive so we can confirm your group’s private entry.
Q. What does the VIP ticket include?
A. The VIP TICKET grants you:
- Admission to HEXED at your chosen showtime and unlimited access to the Fang Bang Bar.
- A glow necklace that lets you opt-in for deeper interactivity.
- Access to secret VIP areas off-limits to general admission.
- Entry to Minerva Moans' witch strip club “Triple HeXXXed", including a complimentary “money shot” at the bar.
- Exclusive access to photo ops and displays only available to VIPs.
Q. When should I arrive?
A. You’re welcome to arrive as early as you like—your ticket gives you access to the bar on the night of your show. Relax, grab a drink, and soak it in!
Just make sure to check in at least 15 minutes before your scheduled showtime. Late arrivals will not be admitted, and there are no refunds or exchanges.
Q. Are there any warnings or rules I should know about?
A. Yes. HEXED includes fog, strobe lights, special effects, live actors, and disorienting environments. Guests must be able to walk up and down stairs in low lighting. Security cameras monitor the experience at all times.
Please follow these rules:
- No cell phone use during the show—violators will be removed.
- No talking, unless prompted by an actor.
- Do not touch the actors unless invited to.
- No foul language, aggressive behavior, smoking, or vaping.
- Drunken or disruptive behavior that interferes with the show or other guests will not be tolerated.
- If security asks you to leave, there are no refunds.
Q. How physically fit do I need to be for this show?
A. The experience involves climbing multiple flights of stairs, as it takes place in a historic building with limited accessibility. If you have difficulty with more than two flights, this may not be the right event for you.
Q. What if I get too scared and want to leave?
A. You can alert a staff member or actor and we’ll help you exit safely. However, no refunds will be given if you leave early.
Q. What should I wear?
A. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in—stairs and walking are required. No high heels, backpacks, or valuables.
Please use the coat check for personal items. We’re not responsible for lost or damaged belongings.
Q. Can I come in costume?
A. Yes! Costumes are welcome, but no full-face masks, weapons (real or fake), or anything that could be mistaken as part of the show or cause a safety concern. Also, nothing that is too cumbersome will be permitted, so things like inflatable costumes, or costumes that are too large for the show, or costumes that inhibit your ability to move will not be allowed.
Q. Is photography or video allowed?
A. No photography or video is allowed inside the Hexed attraction. This helps preserve the immersive experience for all guests. However, photography and video are allowed in all other parts of the attraction including Fang Bang and the VIP Experience.
Q. What is the age range for this attraction?
A. Guests must be 18+ with valid I.D.
Anyone 13–17 may attend only with a parent or legal guardian. Please note: this is an R-rated experience with nudity, gore/violence, and strong language. It is designed for adults and not recommended for younger audiences.
Q. Is there food or drink at the venue?
A. Yes! Our bar serves alcoholic beverages for guests 21+ with valid I.D. We also offer pizza at the bar, while supplies last.
Q. Is there parking?
A. There is no on-site parking, but several public lots are nearby, including the Yerba Buena Garage near 5th & Mission, with rates around $5–$6/hour. Plan ahead and allow time to park before your scheduled showtime.
Q. Is there public transportation nearby?
A. Yes! The venue is located near BART, MUNI, and multiple bus lines. Public transit is highly recommended due to limited parking.
Q. Is there a coat check?
A. Yes! We offer complimentary coat check at the box office for coats and bags. Please note: we cannot store bikes, scooters, or items larger than a backpack.
Q. What if I miss my time slot?
A. Unfortunately, late arrivals cannot be admitted, and there are no refunds or exchanges, so please arrive early.
Q. Are there actors that will touch me?
A.Only if you opt-in with the Red Glow Necklace. Otherwise, you will not be touched.
Q: Is the attraction ADA-accessible?
A: Unfortunately, the haunted attraction itself is not accessible by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The San Francisco Mint, built in 1874, has had minimal structural upgrades and includes multiple floors with required stair access. The building's only elevator does not reach the older, decrepit sections where the attraction takes place.
However, the Fang Bang Bar and CreepShop are ADA-accessible. The bar is part of the attraction space, features character interaction and ambiance, and is free and open to the public. If you have accessibility needs and would like to visit the bar, please email us at info@intothedarksf.com.
Q: Is the attraction accessible to the hearing-imparied?
A: We can hire an interpreter for guests who are hearing-impaired. We also recommend that they read the script ahead of time. While this might spoil some of the surprises in the show, having an understanding of the story can enhance their overall experience and give clarity to the immersive aspects. Please email us at info@intothedarksf.com for more information.
Q. What if I have questions not answered here?
A. Email your questions to info@intothedarksf.com.
